Which shoe for a dog that hikes or slips?
For the toughest ground
Stony trails, rocks, tarmac, rubble, sharp snow: its rubber coating resists abrasion better than a textile sock. It is the protective boot Valérie uses on steep trails and abrasive hiking ground.
Non-slip, for the dog that slips
Its coated surface grips the ground. It can help an older dog, or one lacking grip, that slips on tiles or drags its paws, to get a better hold, and it protects the top of its toes. Get it used to it at home first, a few minutes at a time.
For the paw that must stay dry
Coated, it protects better from rain than the knitted Confort bootie, which is not waterproof: it helps keep an injured paw pad or nail dry when it rains or the ground is wet. Take it off when you get back to let the paw breathe.
Still flexible
Knitted without seams on the inside, it hugs the paw and stays flexible: the dog keeps a good feel for the ground. Its snug cuff and 25 mm classic, non-elastic hook-and-loop strap keep it in place, without letting soil or snow in. Well tightened, it stays on for the whole outing.
Coated, non-slip, hard-wearing protective boot for the toughest ground
The Renforcée bootie is our protective shoe for difficult ground: the same seamless knit as the Confort bootie on the inside, coated on the outside with a soft rubber material. Tougher than the Confort and non-slip, it gives better protection from rain and damp, on rocks, tarmac and sharp snow.
Who is it for, and when
- dogs hiking on rocks, stones or tarmac;
- sporting or working dogs, on very abrasive ground or sharp snow;
- older dogs, or dogs lacking grip, that slip on smooth floors;
- dogs with an injured paw pad or nail, when the paw must stay dry.
Choosing the size
Measure the width of the paw at the toes, with the dog standing and its toes flat, then read your size: the 0.5 cm margin is already included.
Paw width up to: XS 5.5 cm · S 6.5 cm · M 7 cm · L 8 cm · XL 9 cm
No ruler? Print the template at 100% (actual size) and place the paw on it: it must fit inside the outline.
How to use
Slip the bootie onto a clean, dry paw, then close the strap above the wrist, firmly but without squeezing: you should be able to slide a finger between the paw and the strap. Take it off at the end of the activity.
Precautions for use
- Tighten the strap firmly so the bootie stays on, but without squeezing the paw; take it off after the activity: being coated, it breathes less than the Confort.
- Check the paw when you get back: if there is redness, rubbing or a blister, let it rest.
- For a dog in rehabilitation, ask your vet how long it can be worn.

Pro tip
I use this bootie on steep trails and abrasive hiking ground: stones, tarmac… When a dog has an injured paw pad or nail and the weather is rainy, it is very handy to protect its paw with this coated bootie, which protects better from rain than its knitted twin, the Confort bootie. We also recommend it, alongside veterinary follow-up, for dogs in rehabilitation that drag their paws or slip on the floor.

Is it waterproof?
Its coating makes it resistant to damp, unlike the knitted Confort bootie: it helps keep an injured paw dry in the rain. It is not a watertight boot for walking in water or swimming.
Do these dog boots stay on well?
Do these dog boots stay on well?
Yes: in mushing, our dogs cover up to 50 km in our Confort booties without losing them, and the Renforcée closes the same way, with a snug cuff. The secret is to tighten them well: close the strap above the wrist, tight enough that it doesn't turn, but without squeezing; a finger should be able to slide in.
